Editor:
Thank you for your article "Firing and Resignations Rock the AIHS."
This article should have every Irish American to take time to think how important the American Irish Historical Society and the importance of the direction this Society has taken under the direction of Executive Director Elizabeth Stack.
I have joined this Society due to the advancements that have been undertaken under her leadership.
The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians have been committed to promoting our Irish History for the past 131 years.
One of our early leaders, Ellen Ryan Jolly, was honored to speak at the American Irish Heritage Society in the early 1900s on the importance of Irish America.
I had the privilege of doing research at the Society in 2015 for the 125th Anniversary of the Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Centennial of the Nuns of the Battlefield Monument.
The early editions of the National Hibernian are part of the collection at the Society.
These are important historical repositories of Irish and Irish American History that need to have a good steward responsible for their preservation.
Elizabeth Stack, in her position as Executive Director, was an excellent steward of these collections. In addition to preserving the collections, she also brought life back into the American Irish Historical Society after it had been shuttered for a few years.
The programs both in person and virtual that were presented under the leadership of Elizabeth Stack were fantastic and engaged Irish America.
As a concerned Irish American who is extremely dedicated to promoting Irish history, I question why the Board made this decision of eliminating the full time position of Elizabeth Stack.
I would suggest that the Board revisit this decision in the good of the Society, and all of Irish America.
