Pic of Day: Ireland's Great Hunger Museum of Fairfield made its inaugural appearance at the Saint Patrick's Day Parades in Norwalk and Bridgeport, Connecticut this year, showcasing what the museum says is commitment to preserving and sharing the history of Ireland's Great Hunger while engaging the Irish community with ongoing exhibitions featuring artwork in The Great Hunger Collection.
The IGHMF's parade participation included banners that featured iconic imagery representing Ireland's Great Hunger/An Gorta Mór. The banners and walkers formed to resemble a Coffin Ship, with the sails displaying artwork from renowned Irish sculptors Rowan Gillespie and Kieran Tuohy.
