Connor “The Kid” Coyle successfully defended his North American Boxing Association [NABA] middleweight title with an impressive fifth round knockout of Joey Bryant at The Blind Tiger in Biloxi, Mississippi last Saturday.
Coyle displayed good skills and outboxed Bryant in the early rounds. In the fifth stanza, he dropped Bryant three times, forcing the referee to halt the contest at 2:54.
Coyle improved to 20-0 with 9 KOs after this third defense of the NABA belt. He’s currently ranked #6 by the World Boxing Association (WBA). Bryant dropped to 17-2 [13 KOs].
“I’m happy with the victory,” said the Derryman, who trains out of Pinellas Park, FL. “Our game plan was to pick him apart round by round and break him down. It was executed exactly the way we wanted it.”
With the victory, Coyle’s sights are set on facing one of the champions or top contenders at 160 pounds.
“The plan is to fight in an eliminator or for the world title as soon as possible. My team is going to explore potential fights against the bigger names at middleweight to see what makes the most sense.”
Coyle is promoted by Fire Fist Boxing Promotions.
