Reward posted after death of Queens bar owner

A $10,000 reward has been posted for information leading to the arrest of a driver wanted in a deadly wrong-way crash that killed popular Queens bar owner George Gibbons a fortnight ago.

The crash occurred around 6:45 a.m. on Oct. 15 after the 37-year-old Gibbons closed up his "Gibbon's Home" bar in Maspeth. He was in a cab on the way home when it was struck by another car driving the wrong way on a service road for the Long Island Expressway.

The New York City Police Department said that it was seeking the public's assistance in locating the driver of the wrong way car. he has been named as 36-year-old Peter Rodriquez

Anyone with information is being asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. All calls are strictly confidential.

The reward was announced at a press conference addressed by New York City Council member Elizabeth Crowley and Congressman Joe Crowley.
