John Knipfer was born in Lubbock, TX to Ron and Mary (Kelly) Knipfer. He has two older sisters, Maureen and Ann. Knipfer grew up travelling around the U.S. and parts of Europe in a military family. He received his undergraduate and medical education in Dayton, OH, then completed advanced training in anesthesiology at the University of Michigan. He has settled with his beautiful wife Laura, and lovely daughter Julia, in central Ohio.
