Jim was appointed to the FDNY on December 5, 1988, and after completing “Proby School” he was assigned to Engine 71, near Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Jim transferred to Ladder 55, in the same firehouse in 1991. He was promoted to Lieutenant on July 5, 2009, and was assigned to Ladder 25 on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
Jim was elected to the UFOA executive board on January 14, 2014, and assumed the duties of the sergeant at arms of the UFOA. In September 2014, Jim was elected as the Treasurer of the UFOA, and served in that office until September 2021. Jim was elected as President of the UFOA in September 2021 and stepped down from that position on September 1, 2023.
