Daniel Manning, FDNY Firefighter, Ladder 43 – Retired.
Danny was appointed to the FDNY on 4-7-79 and assigned to Engine 257 in Brooklyn after graduating from the Academy. After 11 great years of fighting fires in Brooklyn; he transferred to Ladder 43 in Spanish Harlem, home of “El Barrio's Bravest", where he spent the next 12 years. Danny enjoyed every day of walking into that firehouse and working with some of the best firefighters on the job, both on and off the fire floor.
Daniel has been active since day one in volunteering with FDNY and union activities and as a member of El Barrio's Bravest Alumni, assisting in relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina and the Gulf Coast, along with volunteer efforts for the Stephen Siller Foundation and other charities. As a proud union member he ran for citywide office, along with being a union delegate. Danny is also a member of the FDNY Emerald Society and supporter and admirer of the fine men of the Pipes and Drums.
