Jesse Dwyer
Where do you live? Greenwood Lake, NY.
Current company and position? Town of Warwick, Elected Supervisor; (CEO) Red Pillar Consulting, LLC. Founding Partner; Medical Billing Solutions, President.
First job and what it taught me? My first real job was being a "food runner" in a restaurant on Greenwood Lake. This job taught me people skills and team work. As a food runner, you really need to engage with customers while working with a team of people to accomplish a job. What I learned from that job built a solid foundation for everything I do today.
How do you embrace your Irish heritage? I am an active member of my local Gaelic Cultural Societies, among the oldest in the nation - the GWL Gaelic Cultural Society. Our main mission is to preserve and promote Irish heritage not only in our own community but across the nation. Greenwood Lake is where Project Children was founded with the Mulcahy Family. This program has flown tens of thousands of children from Northern Ireland to stay in Greenwood Lake for the summer since the 1960s. This project aimed to quell the conflict among those living in Northern Ireland and over the past 6 decades, we have seen amazing results from the program and I am happy to continue supporting the program as Mayor and now Town Supervisor.
While I was Mayor of Greenwood Lake, I successfully hosted the Mid-Hudson St. Patrick's Day Parade in my community - one of the largest parades outside of NYC.
Additionally, I attend Mass at St Patrick's Cathedral every St Patrick's Day and enjoy viewing the parade in person with my wife and children. This has been our tradition for nearly a decade.
Something people would be surprised to know about me... I dropped out of high school at the age of 17 to work full time to help support my family. My father passed away when I was 10 years old and although I have become very successful in my professional life, it was a tough road to get here. Not having a high school diploma, I had to try 10 times harder than my peers to get accepted, and ultimately graduate among the top 5% (Magna Cum Laude) of my class from Pace University in 2010.
