Deirdre Kozicki
Where do you live? Brooklyn, NY.
Current company and position? Beauty Co-Lab, Cross Channel Planning Manager.
First job and what it taught me? My first job ever was actually an Irish dancing gig for a local play in the Chicago area called Music Man. Three days a week I played the part of Gracie the Irish dancer and it taught me that I could actually follow my interests and do what I love for a living. Though it’s not what I ended up doing professionally, it does serve as a constant reminder to stay passionate about what I do for a living.
How do you embrace your Irish heritage? I embrace my Irish heritage by just being proud of it every day. I'm an active member of the Irish American partnership young partners here in NYC. I also love to celebrate and promote the Arts in my everyday life by amplifying big Irish voices in pop culture like Paul mescal and bands like Fontaines DC. I think what they’re doing is so cool by modernizing a traditional culture.
Something people would be surprised to know about me... I competitively Irish danced for 16 years with Mullane Godley in Chicago and also served as the president of Fordham University’s Irish dance team, Slainte. I even went to Worlds in Boston and British Nationals in Manchester. Early in my dancing career, I wrote a monthly column chronicling my feising days in the Irish American News.
