Aoife Stack
Where do you live? Orangeburg, NY.
Current company and position? Orange & Rockland - Manager of Eastern New Business Services. I help manage gas and electric projects that power our communities.
First job and what it taught me? My first job was at the Bronxville Public Library in Bronxville, NY. Working at the library as a young person taught me the importance of responsibility, punctuality, and being organized. It also strengthened my love of reading and the importance of libraries as institutions in our society. Libraries provide access to information and resources that encourage lifelong learning, and are integral to preserving history, art, and culture. Support your local library!
How do you embrace your Irish heritage? I am an Executive Board Member of the Con Edison Emerald Society, and a member and supporter of the American Irish Historical Society. I embrace my heritage by sharing it whenever I can, as I believe that being inclusive and welcoming is a hallmark of the Irish spirit. I am a donor and volunteer at The Aisling Center, which offers cultural and social services programs that allow the Irish in NY to give back to the communities of Westchester and NYC. I also embrace my heritage by visiting my family and homeland. With its rich history, natural beauty, and culture, every trip to Ireland brings experiences and memories that remind me who I am.
Something people would be surprised to know about me... I’m an immigrant. Even though I have spent nearly my whole life in NY, I feel connected to the immigrant experience, and feel lucky to have two homes.
