In 2018, when NYC Department of Sanitation hired Kathleen as a Sanitation Worker, she showcased her leadership and friendship among her fellow bandmates in the DSNY Emerald Society Pipes and Drums. Her musical skills and dedication to her craft were finally recognized when she was appointed as the pipe sergeant of the DSNY Emerald Society band in March 2022, making her the first female to hold the position in the history of any New York City service band.
In October of 2021, Kathleen was promoted to Supervisor and is currently detached to the GPS unit where she installs and repairs the GPS devices on all of the department’s equipment across the five boroughs
