How do you celebrate your Irishness? By lobbying the President, Congressional Members and State elected officials to support the Good Friday Agreement and peace, justice and prosperity in Ireland.
Name a hero you admire and why? Senator Tim Kennedy Buffalo; I believe the Irish have exceptional communication and political skills and Senator Tim Kennedy exemplifies the very best. He has dedicated himself to public service, in the interest all his constituents, regardless of their economic status. Because he is young he presents a high moral and performance standard for youth contemplating a career in politics.
Something people would be surprised to know about me... In the next life I would like to be Italian. I love the beauty of the country, their music, their food and, of course, their wine.
Biography: Inspired by President Clinton and Senator George Mitchell O'Leary founded Irish American Democrats Political Action Committee in 1996 to rally political support for a peace agreement in Ireland. Since 1996, the PAC has raised millions of dollars to elect Democratic candidates who promote peace justice and prosperity in Ireland. In 2011 President Obama appointed O'Leary as Observer to the International Fund for Ireland and President Biden appointed her to the same position in 2022. Prior to entering politics, O'Leary worked in library sciences at the Catholic University of America, Washington D.C. Together with Professor Thomas Halton she co-authored the seminal reference work "Classical Scholarship: An Annotated Bibliography."
