Job Description? Currently the UFA Fire Marshal Representative, Union Rep for all FDNY members in the title of fire marshal.
Why I chose this career? I started my career as a firefighter, took a promotional exam to the rank of fire marshal and was always a union delegate and involved so this came natural.
Proudest moment of my career? Solving a murder case, in less than 24 hours. This a was a "fire as a weapon" homicide.
Something people would be surprised to know about me... Can get claustrophobic.
Biography: Joseph S. Connolly started his NYC career in 2001with NYC Transit. After the 9/11 attacks he decided to join the military, he chose to enlist in the Navy and after recruit training he was attached to a Seabee unit, he attended numerous trainings in Gulfport Miss, and in 2006 did pre deployment training in Port Huemene California, and deployed to Kuwait and Iraq under the Global War on Terrorism. was called for the FDNY, he entered the Fire Academy in March 2007 and upon completion was assigned to Engine 66 in the coop city area of the Bronx, in 2019 Joseph was promoted to Fire Marshal and assigned to citywide north command. In 2023 he was elected UFA Fire Marshal Representative, after being a long time UFA delegate both as a firefighter and fire marshal as well as being a member of multiple union committees, it seemed like perfect next step. During his career Joseph has been sighted for his bravery and lifesaving actions multiple times! Joseph is a proud member of the FDNY’s VFW Post and serves as the junior vice commander. Joseph also serves on his local community board (CB 10), the silver beach gardens coop board and is an active community and veterans activist.
Joseph is married to his beautiful wife Michelle (who is a nurse) and they are raising 2 sons, Jake and Chase. Joseph is a lifelong Throggs Neck and Bronx resident.
