Frank Beirne
Job Description? FDNY Fire Marshal assigned to the Bureau of Fire Investigation Special Operations Command. Operating the Fire Scene Unit to assist in the investigation of high profile fires, including Arson, Fatal, Multiple Alarm, Commercial and or Hate Crimes.
Why I chose this career? The opportunity to help people in need while working on the greatest Fire Department in the world, The FDNY. The secret is that it's not really work when you look forward to and enjoy being there.
Proudest moment of my career? Going to work every day with incredible colleagues to make a difference in people's lives is what makes me the most proud.
Something people would be surprised to know about me... Ran 6 NYC Marathons and now in the process of climbing all of the 46 High Peaks in the Adirondack Mountains.
Biography: Frank was born in NYC to Frank and Mary Beirne, proud emigrants from Counties Leitrim and Kilkenny. With his siblings Tom, Martin and Marie, Frank grew up in Woodlawn and Yonkers, and graduated from Iona College.
Frank joined the FDNY in 1995 and worked at Engine 47 for 20+ years. In 2016, Frank was promoted to Fire Marshal and is now assigned to the Bureau of Fire Investigation Special Operations Command.
Frank is proud of his career long involvement with the UFA where he has been a Union delegate for almost 2 decades at Engine 47, BFI Citywide South and BFI SOC.
Frank’s love for his Irish heritage and community runs deep. He has served on the FDNY Emerald Society Executive Board for over 20 years, and in 2011 was an Aide to the Grand Marshal for the NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Frank is active in the FDNY Holy Name Society, the County Leitrim Society, and the Woodlawn Taxpayers Association.
What makes him most proud is his family, especially his sons, Francis and Robert and his partner, Tam.
