Ciara Lennon

Job Description? FDNY EMT respond to emergency calls and provide pre-hospital emergency medical care and transportation to critically ill and injured patients. One of the most vital part of New York City’s emergency response system, working under high-pressure situations to save lives and stabilize patients focusing on the demands of providing emergency medical care in one of the world’s busiest cities.

Why I chose this career? Choosing to become an FDNY EMT stems from my deep-rooted desire to help others and make a tangible difference in my community.

Being an EMT allows me to channel that passion into saving lives and providing emergency care, much like the values of dedication, teamwork, and selflessness I pride myself on.

My commitment to service is also influenced by my strong family ties, especially the wisdom and guidance from my mother and father, who left a lasting impression throughout my childhood. Becoming an FDNY EMT allows me to carry on those principles and give back to a city that has shaped my journey.

Proudest moment of my career? Delivering my first baby as an EMT has been the most proud and defining moment of my career so far. Being there in such a critical, life-changing situation, and helping bring a new life into the world, was both surreal and humbling. It reminded me why I chose this path—to be there for people in their most vulnerable moments. That experience will stay with me forever, and it reaffirmed my deep sense of purpose in the work I do every day.

Something people would be surprised to know about me... One thing that might surprise people is my experience as a champion Irish step dancer starting at 5 years old. Many might not expect that I’ve spent years excelling in such a vibrant cultural tradition. My background in competitive dance adds a unique dimension to my character and demonstrates my discipline and passion.
