Catherine Mitchell Miceli
What motivated you get involved in your community? I first joined the Co Leitrim Society of NY almost 40 years ago and immediately became active as an officer. From there I became a delegate to the United Irish Counties Association, The NYC St Patrick's Day Parade, and The Ladies Ancient Order of Hibernians. I am also an active member of the Cardinal Stritch Columbiettes in Brooklyn.
How do you think your community work has brought about positive change? I believe that with the help of all of our members working together we kept the Irish organizations alive and active. We helped our Irish community having Fundraisers for those in need and kept the organizations alive with the funds from the Annual Dances. The annual dances brought the County people together once a year.
Has your job or profession helped in your community work? All of the Irish Organizations are strictly Volunteer. I was a volunteer in all of the organizations and enjoyed working with all the other volunteers.
