Tom was appointed to the F.D.N.Y. in 1990. He was assigned to Engine 60, the Green Berets, in the South Bronx where he worked until his retirement in 2014. Born and raised in the Bronx, he is a product of Catholic education. St. Ann's in the Bronx, Sacred Heart in Yonkers and Manhattan College. Tom is a member of the F.D.N.Y. Emerald Society, the Steuben Association and the Anchor Club. He is the Financial Recording secretary of the F.D.N.Y. Holy name Society and was a Uniform Firefighter association delegate for fifteen years. In 1996, Tom and another Firefighter started the F.D.N.Y. Explorer program. He ran this program until 2008, when the passing of his wife left him with two young children to raise. He is a Community Mayor of New York, which is an all-volunteer organization that provides recreational therapy for children with special needs. Tom is the proud parent of Michael, who is a civil engineer and Caitlin, a graphic designer.
