Taking inspiration from his grandfather, Barney Flanagan originally of Ballymoe, Co. Galway, Tim has spent the bulk of his life being involved in Irish cultural organizations. In 1996, Tim re-established the GAA in Buffalo with the founding of Na Fianna Gaelic Football Club. Then in 1998, he established the first youth Gaelic games program in Western New York with the founding of the Buffalo Youth Board GAA. Additionally, he served as chairman of the Midwest Division GAA from 2000-2004 and held national roles as youth officer, PRO, and secretary of the USGAA. Presently, he is the head coach of the Buffalo Fenians Gaelic football team and secretary of the club. He also serves as co-chair of the Buffalo Irish Festival and vice chairman of the Buffalo Irish Center.
