Eileen Mize is a proud third-generation San Francisco Irish American with deep family ties as the eldest of six and holds a degree in English from the University of California at Davis. A creative communications professional, Eileen has a passion for Irish arts and culture that began at a young age with the McBride School of Irish Dance. Having enjoyed many years of competition and camaraderie in her local Irish dance community—including a couple of visits as a solo competitor to Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne—Eileen is pouring her passion into directing “Keepers of the Steps,” a cultural program of the United Irish Cultural Center of San Francisco, where she serves as an active volunteer. This growing archival collection of Irish step dance stories, memorabilia, and ephemera explores and shares the history of Irish step dance in the San Francisco Bay Area.
