Taoiseach Micheál Martin is in Texas before heading for Washington, D.C. on Wednesday.
Martin met with state legislators in Austin and also Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
Mr. Martin additionally met with representatives of businesses supported by Enterprise Ireland, introduced a panel on the Irish screen industry, participated in a "pop-up Gaeltacht" at the Irish consulate in Austin, and attended a St. Patrick's Day reception at the same venue.
Mr. Martin now heads for Washington and series of events culminating in his meeting with President Trump at the White House, an encounter that has been the subject of fevered speculation on both sides of the Atlantic.
During the meeting the taoiseach will present the president with traditional bowl of shamrock.
