On Sunday past in Staten Island, the temperature was a cold 30 degrees. However, Richmond County Saint Patrick’s Day Parade Chairman Edward Patterson’s temperature was elevated by a generous donation from the New York Knights of Saint Patrick.
The venerable New York Irish group contributed $1,500 to the Richmond County Saint Patrick’s Parade Committee.
The donation was presented to Edward Patterson, Chairman, Richmond County Saint Patrick’s Day Parade by Martin Bellew on behalf of the Knights of Saint Patrick.
Since 1988, the primary objective of the Knights of Saint Patrick has been to support the St. Patrick’s Day Parade, contributing over $1.8 million towards its financial support. These continuing contributions have been instrumental in maintaining the parade’s presence on Fifth Avenue.
This year, the Knights are pleased to extend their financial support to St. Patrick’s Cathedral and eleven local St. Patrick’s Day Parades, including those in Brooklyn, Bay Ridge, Queens County (Rockaway Beach), Richmond County (Staten Island), Mineola, Rockville Centre, Yonkers, Pearl River, Peekskill, Northern Westchester, and Warwick. This initiative aims to preserve the spirit of St. Patrick and Irish America throughout the Metropolitan area.
