Sophie Colgan, a dedicated advocate for the Irish in New York, moved to the city in 2014 and represented New York in the 2015 Rose of Tralee. She has since remained committed to supporting and connecting Irish individuals in NYC — not last through her popular Navigating New York. During her Big Apple sojourn, she also led a crucial grassroots campaign to prevent the sell-off of the gilded-age mansion of the American Irish Historical Society on Fifth Avenue — the jewel in the crown of the Irish American community in New York.

"This guide is a labor of love," Sophie told the Echo.  "As is tradition, we Irish help pull the next one up the ladder. I hope this resource makes living in New York easier for others."

Edited by Liam Grainger, the guide includes open letters from Irish expats, offering personal insights to those following in their footsteps. Contributors include Forbes contributor Gemma Allen, Teaching Advocate Trisha Hogan, a recent J-1 Graduate Rhiannon Gilvarry and Galway Hurler and New York GAA vice chair. Johnny Glynn.

The guide covers, among other topics: Visa options & legal documentation; Finding accommodation & understanding NYC neighborhoods; Job hunting, networking & career-building; Financial planning, banking & credit-building; Navigating public transport & essential city apps.

The guide can be downloaded from Sophie's website, at the earlybird price of $19.99.
