Clare top nominations with 14, Armagh have 11 in football

Only one of their All-Ireland  final starting lineup , Cathal Malone, failed to make the nominations list  as Clare led the way with 14 nominations for the PwC Hurling All-Stars.

Beaten finalists Cork are next on line with 10 names posted with Limerick getting nine and Kilkenny four players and eight counties in total getting recognition.

Leinster finalists Dublin have two nominations, Antrim has three, while Wexford stalwarts Lee Chin and Rory O'Connor are also in the frame.Tipperary is one major hurling county to totally miss out.

Shane O'Donnell (Clare), Darragh Fitzgibbon (Cork) and Limerick's Kyle Hayes are the three names for the Hurler of the Year award.

For the Young Hurler of the Year award, Adam Hogan (Clare), Eoin Downey (Cork) and Cathal O'Neill (Limerick) are the names from which the winner will be decided.

The All-Stars banquet will be screened live on RTÉ on 1 November from the RDS.

Armagh chalk up 11 for All-Star nominations

All-Ireland champions Armagh lead the way with 11 song the 45 nominees as beaten finalists Galway have eight players in the mix for the ultimate individual awards in the GAA calendar.

Orchard defender Barry McCambridge is also nominated for the PwC GAA-GPA Footballer of the Year award going up against the Galway pair  of Paul Conroy and John Maher for the gong.

Ulster champions Donegal have a haul of seven after winning Division 2 of the league and the provincial championship while Mayo and Roscommon receive  two nominations each, through Aidan O'Shea and Ryan O'Donoghue (Mayo) and Brian Stack and Diarmuid Murtagh (Roscommon).Daniel O'Mahony is the sole Cork nominee,  one less than Tyrone who have Darragh Canavan and Niall Morgan cited.
