Molly Shannon and Pierce Brosnan will be honored Thursday evening at the annual Oscar Wilde Awards which are presented by the US-Ireland Alliance.
The award gathering, in Santa Monica will be at Bad Robot, named after the production company of JJ Abrams and Katie McGrath.
The event is supported by Screen Ireland and Northern Ireland Screen.
Also being honored is Richie Baneham. Baneham, who is Irish, works in the area of animation and visual effects.
Trina Vargo, founder of the US-Ireland Alliance said that Molly Shannon. Irish American characters on “Saturday Night Live” -- like Mary Katherine Gallagher and Sally O’Malley -- are iconic.
"The impact of her Irish ancestry on her life and career comes across in her 2022 New York Times bestselling memoir 'Hello, Molly!' as well as in the episode of 'Who Do You Think You Are?' which took Molly back to her ancestral home of Achill, in County Mayo. We look forward to honoring this 'superstar.'"
Pierce Brosnan is an actor of international renown with James Bond one of his many starring roles. The Drogheda native is also active on a range of charitable and social issues.
The presenters for the awards evening are actress Roma Downey and Academy Award winning director James Cameron. Entertainment on the night is being provided by Dublin band VNXI.
The Oscar Wilde Awards have become an annual Irish curtain raiser to the Academy Awards. The US-Ireland Alliance runs the Mitchell Scholars program which places U.S. students in Irish universities.
