Former congressman Tom Suozzi is again Congressman Tom Suozzi.
Suozzi came out on top Tuesday in a special election in New York's Third Congressional District by defeating his Republican opponent Mazi Pilip.
Suozzi had given up his seat in Congress to run unsuccessfully for the New York governorship.
He now heads back to Washington to his new/old office in a presidential election year and will have to stand for his seat in again in November.
That seat covers a large swathe of Nassau County on Long Island and extends into Queens.
Suozzi, during his congressional years, was active on issues of Irish American concern and in his last term was, at one point, a participant in an Ancient Order of Hibernians webinar.
