The murdered CEO of UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson, had visited Ireland on a number of occasions in his capacity as head of a part of the world's largest health insurer.
Mr. Thompson, 50 and based in Minneapolis, was gunned down in Manhattan Wednesday. The NYPD and the FBI are hunting for the lone gunman.
Mr. Thompson's Irish visits focused on Letterkenny, County Donegal, where the UnitedHealth subsidiary Optum is based.
According to the Donegal Democrat, Mr. Thompson visited Optum employees in Letterkenny on several occasions, including an Optum town hall meeting held at An Danlann on the Atlantic Technological University campus.
"He was known to have enjoyed golfing in Donegal," the report stated.
