New rules for Sam finalists

The new Gaelic football playing rules being trialled in 2025 will have a grand opening on Jan. 25, with three big National Football league games fixed for that Saturday evening. With no pre-season competitions next year, supporters will have to wait until the last weekend in January to see the new rules which were passed in their entirety at the recent GAA Special Congress, operating in a competitive environment at inter-county level for the first time. A repeat of the 2024 All-Ireland football final, between and Galway and Armagh in Salthill, will get the action underway at Pearse Stadium at 5.15pm. Forty five minutes later Tyrone, now managed by Malachy O’Rourke, and Derry, now under Paddy Tally, will meet in Omagh. And at 7.30pm the Division One action will be in Croke Park where Dublin play Mayo. The National Hurling League will also start on Jan. 25 with just one game in Division 1A, and that will be the meeting of Wexford and Cork in Wexford Park. On Sunday there are two games in Division 1A, Clare v Kilkenny in Ennis and Galway against Tipp in Salthill.
