Ireland’s Future is preparing to speak at two upcoming Irish-American gatherings regarding preparation for a referendum on Irish Unity.
Said a statement: "On 22nd November Ireland’s Future Board member Andrée Murphy will address the Ancient Order of Hibernians Freedom For All Ireland Christmas Appeal Dinner in Albany.
"This annual event brings together significant figures from across the East Coast of America to support organisations involved in building reconciliation and peace in Ireland.
"Ms. Murphy will address this gathering on the themes of an increasing demand for constitutional change on the island of Ireland, the provisions in the Good Friday Agreement for such change and the necessary preparatory phase. Irish America will be a critical partner in any constitutional referendum and these in person gatherings are critical.
"On 24th November the annual Ancient Order of Hibernians Freedom for All Ireland Bronx Dinner Dance will focus on celebrating the contribution of Irish Americans to building awareness of human rights, and peace building in Ireland.
"This annual event has become a key date in the New York Irish American Calendar. Ms Murphy will use this opportunity to update those gathered on the latest discussions regarding the inclusive and growing developments towards Irish Unity and the future role Irish America will play.
"Ireland’s Future will also be engaged in private meetings with Irish America representatives and other key stakeholders who have been key to the peace process and the implementation of the Good Friday Agreement. As Ireland enters a new phase in relationships with Britain, Europe and the United States this is a welcome opportunity for such dynamic engagements."
