Cork-born actor Cillian Murphy has been nominated for a Best Actor Oscar in the upcoming Academy Awards.
Murphy plays the lead role in the Christopher Nolan-directed "Oppenheimer," which has garnered thirteen nominations in all.
Murphy recently secured a Golden Globe award in the best actor category. Should he follow up with a best actor Oscar he will be the first Irish-born to do so in Academy history. The Oscars were first awarded in 1928.
