One wants to return to Congress, the other wants to take a seat in the House of Representatives for the first time.
Former Congressman Tom Suozzi and New York State Senator Tim Kennedy are holding a joint fundraiser on Wednesday, January 10 at the headquarters of the United Federation of Teachers in Manhattan.
The two, both Democrats, come from opposite corners of the Empire State, Suozzi from Long Island, Kennedy from Buffalo.

But both share a strong interest in issues of Irish American concern, not least U.S. backing for full implementation of the Good Friday Agreement.
