Rory's Multiple Firsts

Rory McIIroy recorded his first PGA Tour win of the season by winning the Scottish Open Sunday by a single stroke.

The Scottish Open is now part of the PGA roster since the DP World Tour (formerly the European Tour) merged with it.

MciIroy now stands at 24 PGA Tour wins alongside Gary Player and Dustin Johnson.

The win was McIlroy's first ever on Scottish soil.

And by winning he became the first player to ever notch up wins in the Irish Open, Scottish Open and the Open Championship, which will be played this week at Royal Liverpool in Hoylake.

By virtue of his Scottish triumph at the Renaissance Club (in North Berwick and about twenty miles from Edinburgh) McIlroy also became the first player to score back to back wins in the Rolex tournament series. The first was the CJ Cup back in October.

And as a result of his Scottish win, and going into his Open bid, McIIroy now stands at number two in the world golf rankings.
