Photo of the Day: A new monument honoring the 1981 Hunger Strikers was unveiled and dedicated on Sunday, May 21, in Providence, Rhode Island. The ceremony took place at the Providence Greenway, site of the Rhode Island Famine Memorial Monument. The Hunger Strikes plaque has aroused a degree of online discussion as it draws a link between the Hunger Strikes and the Good Friday Agreement seventeen years later. Some are of the view that it should not do so, while those who created the new memorial are of the view that there is a historical link.
