Knights Will Mark 35 Years

The New York City Knights of St. Patrick, a nonprofit providing significant financial support to the New York City St Patrick’s Day Parade and other Irish cultural organizations and causes across the Metropolitan New York region, will hold its 35th Anniversary Gala on October 26 at the Union League Club in Manhattan

For 35 years the Knights of St. Patrick have been dedicated to promoting volunteerism and supporting and preserving the Irish cultural traditions.

The event, said a release, will honor three individuals: Patrick M. Dolan, Patrick J. McGowan and Kay Quinlivan.

Continued the release: "All have made quite significant contributions through their leadership in business, labor, philanthropy and the non-profit sectors, across the New York Region.

"Being recognized as Labor Leader of the Year, Patrick M. Dolan is Director of Metal Trades at the 370,000-member United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada.

"Prior to that he served for a decade as President of Steamfitters Local 638 representing more than 8,500 union members across downstate New York and as Chairman of the Steamfitters Industry Trust, supporting the pensions, medical, security benefit, education trusts on behalf of its members and retirees.

"Being recognized as Business Executive of the Year, Patrick J. McGowan is the founder and CEO of McGowan Builders, a leading construction firm with projects that includes Manhattan’s Dream Hotel, Sirius XM’s recording studio renovation in Miami Beach, the full interior fit-out for Bloomingdales Aventura Mall (FL) store and the West Elm Corporate Headquarters in Brooklyn.

"In addition, he is founding CEO and Board Chairman of Solace House a non-profit focused on suicide prevention, mental health advocacy, providing therapy resources to the community. McGowan is a member of the Knights.

"The Knight of the Year is Kathleen (Kay) Quinlivan, who has been a long serving and steadfast supporter of the organization and mission. Quinlivan previously served as the organization’s Secretary-Treasurer following the death of her husband Joe, who capably served in that leadership role with the organization for 21 years.

"She spent her 40-year career at Seagram’s Corporation, as one of that global liquor firm’s few and leading female executives. For 15-years Quinlivan also played a quite significant role with the Board of the Directors of the Catholic Youth Organization. She has been a member of the Knights for 28 years."

Since its founding in 1988, the New York City Knights of St. Patrick have donated nearly $2 million to the New York City Saint Patrick’s Day Parade and organizations including Solace House, Emerald Isle Immigration Center, the Irish Arts Center, the New York Irish Center, and St. Patrick’s Cathedral.

The Knights of St. Patrick is a member-funded 501c(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to financially support the NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade, and to promote the awareness and study of Irish culture.
