A Big Boston Welcome

Pic of Day: Boston City Council President Ed Flynn (standing back row second from left) recently hosted an Irish delegation from Counties Cork and Kerry to Boston City Hall. The delegation included the Mayor of Cork, Frank O’Flynn, and Mayor of Kerry, Jim Finucane. The focus of the visit was to celebrate 300 years of Irish contributions to Massachusetts and to promote cultural, political, and economic exchange. During the reception, Council President Flynn also recognized a distinguished Irish-American guest, Kelly Sullivan, whose great-grandparents hailed from County Cork and whose family sponsored the U.S. Navy destroyer, USS The Sullivans. Council President Flynn was a sailor aboard the current USS The Sullivans on a historic visit to Cork and Kerry during his service with the U.S. Navy.
