Victory in New Zealand

Pic of the Day: Ireland celebrate as they lift the Steinlarger Series Trophy in Wellington after Saturday’s 32-22 win against New Zealand. It was the first series win by a visiting side on Kiwi soil in the 21st century. Ireland had never won an international against the All Blacks in New Zealand before tying the series 1-1 the previous Saturday in Dunedin with a 23-12 result. The Irish were expecting a backlash, but instead they dominated the first half and went in 22-3 at the break. Ireland have now edged ahead of France in the official rankings as the World’s No. 1 side. For a report and full sports coverage, see this week’s digital/print edition of the Irish Echo.
