Inwood Remembers Fallen Officers

The first annual “Inwood Remembers” event is set for Wednesday evening, March 16, after a Sunday gathering was deferred due to bad weather.

Inwood Remembers is a collaboration between Tubby Hook Tavern and the William B. Burke Division 3 of New York County of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.

The gathering will center on the painting of a shamrock on the street at the intersection of 207th St. and Broadway in the Upper Manhattan neighborhood.

And that shamrock will serve as visible salute to the memory of what a release from organizers said are "several individuals who dedicated their lives to the community."

"We will honor their memories by collecting donations for several local charities," added the release.

Funds collected will be applied to a Memorial Scholarship at Good Shepherd School in honor of Detective Jason Rivera "who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting our City."

Also being remembered is Detective Wilbert Mora who died alongside Detective Rivera on the night of January 21.

Also to benefit from the fundraising will be Inwood Little League in honor of Jimmy Nolan, who served as a coach, umpire and officer for many years.

Additionally benefitting will be public gardens in local parks in memory of Maria Lall, "who tirelessly volunteered her time to care for these gardens."

The stem of the shamrock will be painted blue and yellow in solidarity with the people of Ukraine.
