Kennedy Appointment Welcomed by Caucus, Boyle

The appointment of former congressman Joe Kennedy III as U.S. Envoy to Northern Ireland has been welcomed by the Washington D.C-based Irish National Caucus.

And it has also been welcomed by Philadelphia congressman Brendan Boyle,

INC president Fr. Sean McManus said Kennedy will make "an ideal and dedicated Special Envoy to Northern Ireland...and one day, please God, a perfect President of the United States. The Irish National Caucus looks forward to his two future roles."

Said Kennedy's fellow Democrat, Congressman Boyle: “As one who has been long advocating for the appointment of a special envoy to Northern Ireland, I applaud the Biden Administration on doing so, and for making such an excellent choice.

"Joe is a good friend and we worked closely together as colleagues in Congress. I know Joe has a clear understanding of the role the United States must play as a guarantor of the Good Friday Agreement.

"He will bring an unwavering commitment to preserving and enhancing the economic vitality of Northern Ireland as that region continues to navigate the uncharted waters of this post-Brexit era.”

Kennedy himself tweeted: "An incredible honor to be appointed Special Envoy to Northern Ireland for Economic Affairs. Look fwd to working with the Biden Admin to reaffirm US commitment to Northern Ireland and to promote economic prosperity and opportunity for all its people."
