Daniel (Danny) Doohan passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 17, 2021.
He is survived by his loving wife Sheila of 50 years, his beloved daughters Fiona (Rob) Sanzo and Danielle (John) Wolf and his adored grandchildren, Hailey, Robert, Ciara and Olivia.
He will be deeply missed by his sister Kathleen (Sean), brothers Packie (Veronica), Eddie (Mary), Josie (Teresa), Tony (Bridie) and Christy. Danny is predeceased by his parents Denis and Bridget Doohan, his sisters Mary Cannon, Margaret Miller and Bridie Boyle. And his brothers Seamus, Brian John and Alfie Doohan.
The family wishes to thank Fr. Brendan Fitzgerald and Fr. Patrick Brady for their support and celebrating Danny's Mass of Christian Burial. We would also like to thank Mr. Clive Anderson and staff of Pelham Funeral Home, for a beautiful celebration of Danny's life.
A special thank you to the New York GAA and NaFianna for having a Guard of Honor at the Church, it was a beautiful tribute to his life.
And thank you to Margaret Purcell Roddy and team, for making it possible to share Danny's Funeral Mass and prayers at the cemetery with those unable to be with us. Our thanks go to those who have supported us during this sad time by calling to the home, Mass cards, letters, vestments, chalices, flowers and food.
Your generosity has been overwhelming.
We would also like to thank all the Doctors, nurses and staff at MSKCC for all their care and support the past few years.
The donations to the Irish Volunteers for The Homeless at the Aisling Irish Community Center has been greatly appreciated, helping others was a passion of Danny’s.
And for those who took time to gather seashells for his grave from his favorite spot, the backstrand in Drumnatinney, Falcarragh Co. Donegal.
We are so grateful to friends, family and the entire community that thought of us during this time, whatever you did to console our hearts, we thank you so much whatever the part.
