TV legend Regis Philbin passed away over the weekend at age 88 and reports state that he will be laid to rest at his university alma mater, Notre Dame. The New Yorker of Irish and Italian heritage was known to millions as simply "Regis." He was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School in the Bronx. Some Echo readers may recall Regis holding up a copy of the Irish Echo on more than one St. Patrick's Day broadcast.
