The Bishop Whelan division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Wheeling, West Virginia, is having its annual Irish Road Bowling fundraising event this Saturday, September 21.
This is the 10th annual road bowl and, according to the division’s tom Murphy, “quite a milestone for our group.”
Last year, 168 teams took part which translated into 851 bowlers, said Murphy.
“We use our event to raise funds for various local charities,” he added.
Registration will start at noon with Road Bowling starting at 1 p.m.
A catered meal will be provided after the bowling and a band will sing Irish and American favorites.
The fee to road bowl are $30 per person in advance and $35 on the day.
All are invited, said the organizers.
