Runners and walkers will take to the streets of Yonkers and the Bronx this Sunday, April 7, for the annual Aisling Irish Community Center 5K walk and run.
More than 500 people are expected to take part in an event that focuses on fun, fitness and family. Runners are coming from Westchester, Rockland, New Jersey, New York City and the boroughs and the gathering will include the McLean Avenue-based Aisling Center’s new Road Runner’s Team Aisling. The 5K raises money and awareness for Aisling Irish Community Center and is held in memory of Pauline Boylan-Coll.
Said a release; “The Aisling Center is very thankful for the support we receive from all of our sponsors including our Premier Sponsor Eurotech Construction and our Green Sponsors Catholic Charities, Country Bank, Eclipse Contracting Corp., G&N McGovern Insurance Agency Inc., JT Magen & Co. Inc., MGM Resorts International and New York-Presbyterian Lawrence Hospital.
The event is hosted by the Rambling House Bar and Restaurant. Organizations and services benefiting are: Irish Volunteers for the Homeless Feeding Program, Senior Citizens’ Programs and Services, the Foróige Youth Leadership Program, free counseling, Irish culture, language, dance and music, computer classes, job center listings, coaching and resume assistance and accommodation referrals
