The Bishop Whelan Division of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Wheeling, West Virginia, has awarded its annual scholarship to three high school students. The $1,000 scholarships were awarded to worthy seniors based on grades, extracurricular activities, knowledge of Ireland and civic and religious activities.
The scholarships are to be used for post-secondary education or training. Pictured are the scholarship winners (l-r): Emily Emmerth, Rachel Drnach and Daniel O'Leary. All three will graduate from Wheeling Central Catholic High School. Emily will attend West Virginia University; Rachel will attend Kent State University, and Daniel will attend Ohio State University.
