McCabe readies for a Rockaway walk

Brian McCabe, pictured right with NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill, is a retired NYPD detective, a contributing Irish Echo columnist, and is chairman of the American Irish Historical Society. But all these will take a back seat this weekend when Brian steps off as Gael of the Year in the 43rd annual Queens County St. Patrick’s Day Parade. This year’s Grand Marshal is Patrick Dolan Jr., President of United Steamfitters Local 638, while Mayo native Michael McMahon is Honorary Grand Marshal. The parade steps off on Saturday, March 3, starting at 1 p.m. at Newport Avenue and proceeding to 130th Street in Rockaway Beach.
