UFT remembers McCourt

Ellen Frey McCourt, center, was guest of honor at the 6th Annual Frank McCourt Memorial Lecture, which was hosted by the United Federation of Teachers Irish-American Committee yesterday evening at UFT Headquarters, Downtown Manhattan. She gave an update on the University of Limerick's second annual creative-writing summer school in her husband's name that will take place later this month at Glucksman Ireland House, NYU. Musician, author and Irish Echo columnist Larry Kirwan, right, gave this year's lecture at UFT HQ, while Yale University-bound Sayem Hossain, a recent New York City high-school graduate, 3rd from left, recited as part of the program President Kennedy's speech on the death of the poet Robert Frost in January 1963. Also pictured are UFT members Alice O'Neil, George Altomare, Tom Murphy and Geoff Cobb. PHOTO: PETER MCDERMOTT
