Paul McBride shared the low score after 54 holes at the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship at Musgrove Mill in Clinton, S.C. The Wake Forest junior out of Malahide, Dublin shot rounds of 71, 71 and 69 to finish on even terms with three others. The playoff lasted only a hole, however, as Virginia’s Jimmy Stanger managed a birdie to snag individual honors. Wake Forest took third place, 17 strokes behind Duke.

Central Connecticut State’s Tara Whelan took 19th place at the Northeast Conference Championship at the LPGA’s Jones Course in Daytona Beach, Fla. Whelan, a junior from Clonlara, Co. Clare, shot rounds of 79, 82 and 78, which left her 21 strokes off the low number, jointly held by a pair from Sacred Heart University.
