Navy commandeers ambassador's back yard

It was a most friendly and non-amphibious landing. The U.S. Navy landed in the back yard of Ireland's ambassador to the U.S. Michael Collins last week.

The occasion was a celebration, hosted by Collins, ahead of the forthcoming visit by the U.S. Navy Football team to Ireland for the Emerald Isle Classic against Notre Dame to be held in Dublin on Saturday, September 1.

Ambassador Collins, in diplomatic blue, welcomed guest of honor, Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus, as well as Vice Admiral Michael Miller, Superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy to his residence for the event.
