Helping baby Eric

AJ Fogarty's Bar and Restaurant in Bronxville, NY will host a benefit for baby Eric James Baron on Thursday, May 24 at 7 p.m. "Baby EJ," according to a release, is only nine months old and in the fight of his life.

"A week ago baby EJ was diagnosed with AT/RT (Atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor). This particular type of cancer is extremely rare and has about a 10 percent survival rate in babies his age," said the release issued by a support group.

"But we have hope. There are survival stories and we are all working together so that baby EJ can add his story of survival as well. The family is at Westchester Medical Center Children's Hospital, They are trying to get him to the Dana Farber Institute in Boston, as they have experience in treating this type of cancer."

Baby Eric started chemotherapy this week. The chemo he needs is extremely aggressive and often results in organ failure.

" However, as mentioned above there are survival stories out there and so far, he's proved to be a fighter pulling through two surgeries, but he needs all the prayers he can get," said one of the support group's coordinators, Marion Callaghan.
