After Manchester City beat Newcastle United 2-0 at St James' Park on Sunday the Sky Sports commentator said that City had one hand on the

English Premier League trophy. And it's certainly looking that way now with just one series of games to be played. When City beat United 1-0 the previous Monday to join them at the top of the table it was felt that United had the easier run-in, but City proved their mettle on Sunday when going to Newcastle and coming away with maximum points after two goals by Yaya Toure.

That game kicked off at 1.30 p.m. and by

the time Manchester United ran out to play Swansea at Old Trafford at 4 p.m. the United players and supporters knew that even if they won, the pendulum had swung towards the blue side of Manchester. Now City are hot favorites to beat struggling QPR at home on Sunday, while United travel to Sunderland.

Elsewhere the race for third place will also go down to the wire on Sunday. On Saturday Arsene Wenger took charge of Arsenal for the 900th time, but the Gunners could only draw 3-3 at home to Norwich, while North London rivals Spurs also drew 1-1 away to Aston Villa. And it's going to a nail-biting day in the relegation zone also with Wolves still the only club definitely relegated.

Also on Saturday Chelsea beat Liverpool 2-1 to take the FA Cup for the third time in four years. The game will be remembered for a controversial save by Chelsea keeper Petr Cech who got his hand to Andy Carroll header that would have earned Liverpool a late equalizer.
