CBS television news reporter Magee Hickey is turning impresarios this weekend when she hosts fellow New York TV news personalities in a cabaret that will honor her late father while aiding the school in the Bronx that he founded.
Lawrence Hickey died at the age of 90 just a few weeks ago and the cabaret, set for Saturday, May 14, will benefit the school he founded in the Bronx for developmentally delayed 3 to 5 year olds.
The school is the the Lawrence F. Hickey Center for Child Development and is run by Astor Children's Services. "I am hoping this event will be a fabulous tribute to a kind and caring man, the sweetest man I ever met," Hickey told the Echo.
"The event is at the beautiful Otto Kahn Mansion, the Convent of the Sacred Heart at 91st and Fifth Avenue, where I went to school and my father helped form the first parents board. We have newscasters from every station represented singing, emceeing and running the auction and they are really talented," she said.
A reception at 1 p.m. will precede the 2 p.m. performance. Details by calling (845)-871-1171 or by emailing dvaldez@astoriaservices.com.
