Congressman Neal confirmed for New York-New Belfast summit

Capitol Hill peace process veteran, Congressman Richard Neal, is to be honored at the New York-New Belfast conference in the New York next month.

The Massachusetts congressman will address the conference in the Fordham University Lincoln Center on Thursday June 9 and be recognized at the annual Irish Echo Index 30 business luncheon on the same day.

Neal, who serves as Democratic leader of the Friends of Ireland, has been a prominent supporter of the Irish peace process for the past two decades.

The veteran politician joins a stellar line-up at the second annual conference which will include contributions from New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn, Comptroller John Liu, and Commissioner of Small Business Services in New York City, Rob Walsh.

Among the high-powered delegation from Belfast will be the CEO of the Northern Ireland Arts Council, Roisin McDonough, and the CEO of Sport NI Eamonn McCartan, who will outline plans for a $200 million development of three stadiums in Belfast, including the biggest building project by the GAA since partition at Casement Park.
